Fabric of the Week – Robotic!
14 May
Many of us remember childhood dreams of one day becoming an astronaut, and with Chris Hadfield, for the first time in the history of space exploration, we almost felt as though we experienced what it’s like to be in outer space first hand. With his tweeted photos of Earth, his space station sing-alongs, and his now famous cover of David Bowie’s Space Oddity, Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield (a.k.a the coolest astronaut ever!) has captured the hearts and imaginations of children and adults alike. Over the past six months of his stay on the International Space Station, Mr. Hadfield has forever changed how we look at outer space and the planet we call home.
In honour of his return to Earth yesterday after six months on the space station, we’d like to declare Birch Fabrics’ Robotic Patchwork with its stars, robots and spaceships–all things we know Mr. Hadfield would approve of–our fabric of the week! It’s a great way to encourage our young ones to always be curious and aspire to great things. Maybe one day they’ll be sending us covers of David Bowie songs from the stars!
Welcome home, Commander Hadfield.
