Summer (and new fabric!) has Arrived

10 Jun

Despite today being a little less than summery outside today, we’ve received so! much! fabric! this week for all sorts of warm weather projects!

While we’re busy processing the 90 new bolts that arrived yesterday, we thought you’d like to see one of our new favourites, Spring Street.

Bicycles, bright colours and raindrops always remind us of Vancouver, and they couldn’t be better than this!

I’m loving the sweet raindrop print especially. Even on less than summery days, the raindrop makes for a darling graphic print.

Plus the collection includes a cheater print quilt panel. If you have never worked with one before they are a great help when you want to stitch up a quick project as a gift. Cheater prints are printed to look like a pieced quilt (hence the “cheater” part) and with a little bit of stitching, easily turn into a quilt. For this panel, it would also be nice to cut the blocks apart and make pillows out the different pieces.

We’ll be back on the blog soon to share images of other new arrivals including the amazing Helen Dardik’s Toomuchery, Farmyard from Moda and more!

Ruby Star and Echino

14 Apr

Whenever we receive a new shipment of fabric, we have the same anticipation as a kid on Christmas morning! Often, even if we are busy working on other projects, someone in the shop (usually me, Lili!) will find a moment to sneak away from their project to peek at the new arrivals. When this shipment arrived, I dove towards the boxes as soon as they were out of our awesome delivery man’s hands!

Echino

The boxes were full of none other than Ruby Star Rising and Echino! Both lines are a bit heavier weight than most of our fabrics, with a 20% linen/80% cotton blend. They would be well suited for pillows or a new bag, and washed they work great for kids clothes, a skirt or quilts!

I’ve posted just a few images of our favorites. It was hard to pick which ones to show you – pick your favorite out of the group over on our Flickr page for Ruby Star Rising and Echino. The Flickr page also has images of other new arrivals including some Amy Butler, Anna Maria Horner and Anthology’s Bryant Park.
