New Book: Bags

28 Mar

Last week we received a new shipment of books. Sometimes our books sell out so quickly, that I barely get a chance to check them out before they are off to inspire our customers. But this one, I made sure to grab myself a copy before it was too late.

Bags: the Modern Classics: Clutches, Hobos, Satchels & More caught my attention right away, as a trained eye might notice, the cover features a bag made out of a Spool of Thread favourite, an Echino linen cotton blend.

I’m planning ahead, and I’m hoping to squeeze a little bag making from the Bags book this weekend.  The biggest problem of course, is which bag to make first?

I decided that this was going to be the one; I even had my fabric picked out. I especially love the version on the upper right, with the contrast pipping.

I was all ready to go, until I saw this cute little guy:

It seems perfect for my summer plans. A great size to stash a bit of money – to keep my hands free for holding ice cream cones on the beach or fresh produce at the farmer’s market.

If you’d like to join me, you can find Bags and a whole bunch of other amazing sewing books at Spool of Thread.
