hello everyone! we are going for mini blog-fest tonight here at spool of thread!
1. an update on our last edition:
Long story short. Before i blogged about the holga i had been chatting about it nonstop to my boyfriend for about a week. He decided to continue his great boyfriend reputation and purchased a holga for me! yay! it even features a flash that has a 4 color wheel for added strange effects. I havent had a chance to try it out yet, but i hope it will be sunshiney sometime this week.
Thanks for all the help and advice in the comments! Vanessa (who for readers out there has recently started a really great podcast) and Amy - dont you love blogs? its constant inspiration from what other people are doing. We should start some sort of crafty/holga thing! and yes, mariko mentioned that you live near me too, carolyn! yay! we should holga chicago!
2. This weekend i actually finished some of my sewing projects. I am very excited about my latest handbag, Minjonet, which is French for little blue flowers. This handbag was a labor of love. I have been working on it in my head for months now, but finally got the time and energy to sit down and really work on it. It is a larger version of a bag that is not currently in my store. I try to have a couple little guys up soon.
I was also motivated to continue to work on my felt pin line. This one reflects the spring time feel that has been occasionally peaking out here in chicago. I hope at some point it is here to stay. I feel so much more creative in sunny weather. The pin is called Spring Delight and will be in a number of other color options in the future. If you are interested in another color before red, shoot me an email and i will move your color choice to the front of the line!
3. Recently i also had my first print ad run in a real magazine. i am part of a co-op of independent designers called, Indie Finds. We grouped together and purchased a 2 page spread in BUST magazine. Each of us featured a product in the magazine, and the items are also listed on the website. Its really exciting because it is opening so many new advertising options. We featured our Angry Red Guy Felt Pin. If you are a designer, and want to join our co-op, i think you will be able to soon. ill give you a heads up when they open.
4. The above mentioned Markio started a candy swap. My box arrived weeks ago and i have been trying to hold off on eating the candy so i could take a picture for all of you. The box came from the oh so wonderful Stacie. Missing from the photo are a box of peeps and some really amazing caramel chews. The theme for the swap was regional candy. Stacie did an excellent job of mixing my favorites, some cute easter treats (see the little lamb in the box? its a frosting covered gumball - how darling is that!)and the regional goodies (can i have more of the caramel things? hehe!) all together. Thanks so much Stacie! (sorry for the poor picture quality).
