spool of thread

strands of a creative life

10.03.2006

Holy Cow! So much for that goal of blogging on a daily business. I've abandoned you again. I'm so sorry, I promise it will never (maybe?) happen again. I promise its all for good reason though.. i've been a bit busy.

As you may or may not know, the holidays are "make or break" for many small independent designers. Its our time of year to shine, make many trips to the post office, and meet all of the shoppers face to face at craft shows. This is really my first year in the business during the holiday season, and I am a little unsure as to how much or what i should do. I dont want to overwork myself, but at the same time, i want to push myself as hard as possible.

Sunday was a huge day for deciding what I'll be doing for the next couple of months. Early in the morning, i signed up for the West End craft show. I am really looking forward to this one, as the table fee is pretty cheap, and the people in the West End should be fun to meet.

Later on in the afternoon, I had an application for a juried craft show. This is my first serious jury application, and i was fully prepared to not make it in. Its at the heritage hall, just a few blocks away, and in the center of Vancouver's fashion. I dropped off 5 of my newest bags, and set up a little display. I wish i had taken a picture of it, because all of my stuff piled together looked really darling. And i made it in! I was quite excited! But it means sooooo much work in the future.

I also have one craft show planned for the end of october, and, at the beginning of november i am doing a shefinds sale thursday. I have much sewing to do! The bags in this post are two of my newest creations, and they are for sale on the website. The tote bag will be available in a red/aqua combination, and the weepocket will be available in a bunch of other prints. They are both really fun!

I think i'm off to order some more magnetic snaps and update my to-do list. I've made an updated list in the side column for where to find iglubu this fall. I've also updated the colors of the blog, and my daily reads.

ETA - the worklist is working out really well
